Orig­i­nally brewed in 2011 as a Brown Shugga’ sub­sti­tute, due to construction-induced capac­ity issues. But we liked it so much it had to make a return trip.

Yes, the name of this beer is cor­rect it is called Lagu­ni­tas Sucks, Brown Shugga Sub­sti­tute. This is a limited-release by Lagu­ni­tas with an inter­est­ing story. One year Lagu­ni­tas decided, unsure of the rea­son, to not release their pop­u­lar hol­i­day lim­ited release Brown Shugga. Well, quite frankly peo­ple were pissed. As an apol­ogy, with great humor, Lagu­ni­tas released a sub­sti­tute for Brown Shugga called Lagu­ni­tas Sucks. It was their way of say­ing sorry to the pub­lic, and what would you know but this is an awe­some ale. Sucks, is a Dou­ble IPA with a unique fla­vor. This IPA is a great beer for hop­heads. It has a trop­i­cal, grape­fruit, cit­rus, and orange fla­vor that greatly com­ple­ments the dou­ble IPA and bit­ter­ness. This is a beer that doesn’t suck…trust us.
